Connecting Through Community

Heidi & Yogi Cargill

Heidi and Yogi’s story is one of two people living separate journeys in the same community group, while God worked behind the scenes to bring them together.

Heidi joined the group in Spring 2022 after a season of loneliness and a church closure. Led by God, she found LC3 and signed up for a Tuesday night community group, where she met Yogi.

Yogi came to LC3 in 2019 and joined the same Tuesday group in October 2022, struggling with health issues but faithfully attending. Over time, both Heidi and Yogi found healing Heidi through ending a relationship, and Yogi through hip surgery. Their group supported them (and they each other) with meals, rides, and prayer during the challenging times.

In June 2023, after Heidi’s birthday dinner, the group saw potential between her and Yogi, though Heidi didn’t. That summer, Heidi left for six months to help her daughter. During this time, Yogi became the group leader and stayed in touch with Heidi, offering support and prayer. When she returned in April, they met for breakfast, but there was no talk of romantic interest.

While Heidi was away, Yogi followed God’s prompt to attend a premarital class, not knowing why. In June 2024, during a group dinner, God opened Yogi’s heart to Heidi. She, too, began to see him in a new light.

Looking back at their winding path, they saw God’s perfect timing in bringing them together. For Yogi, Romans 8:28 became his theme: “In all things, God works for the good of those who love Him.” For Heidi, Psalm 27:13 was her truth: “I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”

At 50 and 64, they exchanged vows, testifying to God’s faithfulness and the role their community group played in bringing them together.
