Singing for Jesus

Tom Lawrence
Worship arts have been one of God’s greatest blessings in my life. As a child at LC3, godly women taught me His word through song, planting seeds of faith that would grow over the years. Sev Herness’ joyful hymn sings and singing in the choir with my Grandpa deepened my love for worship and showed me what it meant to glorify God through music.

At the Air Force Academy, I led worship services and sang in schools and churches across the country, experiencing unexpected opportunities to proclaim His goodness. My wife, Vicki, has been my singing partner for over 40 years, and music helped us quickly connect
with new churches through our military moves.

After 40 years away, God brought us back to LC3, where my love for worship has only deepened. I’ve cherished helping with the 100th anniversary celebration, directing Christmas and Easter choirs, and leading hymn sings alongside both lifelong friends and new ones. Partnering with others to bring music to our Thursday night prophecy studies has been a particular joy, reminding me of God’s faithfulness through the generations. One of the most humbling experiences has been singing as we usher saints into glory, including the daughter of my first LC3 choir director—a full circle moment that reflects God’s enduring presence in my life and in this church.
