What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Lake City Community Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God

We believe in one Triune God, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; each having precisely the same nature, attributes, and perfections.

Bible

We believe the Bible is the inerrant and infallible Word of God. It is inspired by the Holy Spirit and is the supreme authority in all matters of faith. All of our doctrinal positions come from our commitment to God's Word.

Creation

God is the absolute and sole Creator of the universe. Creation was by divine will and purpose, not through evolutionary process.

Jesus Christ

God sent Christ into the world to save sinners. Jesus Christ was both fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life. He was crucified, died to pay the penalty for our sins, and was raised from the dead on the third day. Later He ascended into heaven. Christ is coming again personally, bodily, and visibly to set up His Kingdom.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. Jesus' death served as a complete atonement for sin. And His death and resurrection bring us eternal life. Because salvation is an act of God's grace, the salvation of all true believers are eternally secure.

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit indwells all believers and baptizes, fills, gifts, and seals them at the moment of salvation.

After Death

All who receive Christ become joint-heirs with Christ; and at death, their spirits depart to be with Christ. At the rapture their bodies will be raised in the likeness of Christ and dwell forever in His divine presence.

Spiritual Growth

It is the goal of every Christian to grow in spiritual maturity through obedience to the Word of God, prayer, sharing of the gospel, giving of time, talents, and money, and utilizing spiritual gifts.
