Embracing God's Calling

Elliott Maxville

As a child, I was always a believer. Raised in a Christian family, I learned how to live out my faith—how to act, interact, help, and care for others. But as life went on, challenges grew, and responsibilities appeared out of nowhere. Stress took hold, frustration grew, and at times, I questioned my purpose.

Everything changed on March 2, 2024, when I had my first true encounter with God at the Kaleo Winter Camp. In a moment of need, I felt the Holy Spirit fill me. It was life-altering one I will never forget.

This year, I joined the Kaleo Youth Worship Team as a bassist and was overjoyed to play for Winter Camp. My heart was set on leading others through worship, guiding them toward God just as a friend had done for me. But in my eagerness to serve, I forgot I was on this journey too. Deep down, I carried wounds I had yet to heal.

On the last night of camp, I listened intently to the message. As the leaders and seniors shared their testimonies, I felt God speaking through them. Though I may not recall every word, I will never forget the passion and love for God that filled the room.

Through it all, Kaleo Winter Camp has been where I feel closest to God—a place to release the past and embrace His calling. I am amazed at how much it has shaped me. I’ve met incredible people who encourage me to move forward. I have found where I belong, rediscovered my faith, and realized I am called to serve!
