Satisfaction in the Small Things

Linda Scholl

We started coming to LC3 just before the pandemic shut everything down. On my first visit I was overwhelmed by the size. I was certain I would get lost and never find my way around. The children’s area downstairs was still under construction, promising an even bigger church.

That first visit we met Pastor Jim Kennington - he was so welcoming and kind but the church still seemed so big. It was our second time visiting and meeting Pastor Jim that led us to come back after the shutdown. He greeted us on our second visit as if he’d been waiting to see us again! He knew our names and was so happy to see us again. That
was big.

Since that time, we met Pastor Rich Sewell who does what he and Karin do so well; they made us feel like apart of His plan. They made us feel usable for the Kingdom of God in the Prime Timers ministry; small things for a BIG purpose. Rich and Karin’s genuine care for us has helped us grow in our personal walk with God.

Our God is such a big God. His mission is immense but at LC3, I believe we are seeing God’s love for the small things. Zechariah 4:10 starts out, ‘Who dares despise the day of small things.’ The fellowship at LC3 is so warm. I always feel like people are just waiting for me to arrive. In essence, LC3 makes a big church seem small. We move to the center of the row to make room for others. John 13 tells how our big and mighty Savoir washed His disciples’ feet. Sometimes I think that after 72 years I should have had a bigger life, but then I remember God has called me to the small things. I’m grateful for the opportunity to wash some feet.
