A Story of Submitting

WAYNE KNOLL

My wife Margaret and I have been attending LC3 for six years. For the past couple of years I have been seeking a closer relationship with God. I know I was saved for a reason. I asked God to make clear His purpose and use me in a way that would display His glory. I accepted the invitation to Man Camp with an ulterior motive: to promote a new mentoring program that is starting this summer. However, I believe God had other plans.

The theme for the weekend was “Telling My Story.” During the first few sessions, God made clear His reason for me being there: He wanted my story, all of it! I shared how God helped me get through life and guided me to the right path but there was one thing I kept hidden; the burden was too heavy to carry so I buried it deep. Now God was asking me to dig it up.

Just as Jacob wrestled with God, I had my own battle with God. Ultimately, God wore me down and I submitted to His will to share my story. That night, I had the honor of hearing from four other men and their unique stories filled with sorrow, defeat, and hardship but also great joy and victory. Their stories were such an encouragement to me because no matter what they are going through, they know God is with them. Since that evening, I have shared that hidden part of my life with several others. I now know God is going to use me to His glory, and bring someone into my life that will benefit from my story.

All praise be to God.
