A Story of Coming Together

Peter & Abby Johnson and Family

The Family Christmas Nativity is such a special time of the advent season because it allows whole families to be involved in praising God together. It is an all-inclusive event where grandparents, aunts, uncles, kids and friends gather to sing. Kids have fun dressing up as nativity characters and read the story of Christ’s birth straight from God’s Word.

My favorite part of this night is seeing our middle and high school students, and even kids who are on Christmas break from college, dress up; gather little ones on their laps on stage; help tiny angels climb the risers; and shuffle wisemen into place next to Baby Jesus. Our church is a family of servants and watching this pageant is a picture of that. It’s not perfect, and it’s not supposed to be. It’s a reminder of how The King of the universe chose to be born amidst our chaos. (Although, this is the cutest chaos ever!)

Abby and Peter Johnson and their family have been hosting the pageant at LC3 for 12 years.
