Belonging Through Song

Julie Rodriguez

When I first started attending LC3, I didn’t connect with any groups. I came to church
each Sunday and went home. I had returned to church after a long time separated from
God by sin, and I carried a lot of shame about my past. I didn’t know where I would fit in or
how I could connect at LC3.

I love to sing and had participated in choir when I was younger, so I decided to join
the Christmas choir. That’s when I began to experience a true sense of belonging, not
only through connecting with others but also through connecting with God. Focusing on worshiping the Lord through music gave me so much. During our singing in service, I felt a deep reverence for the Lord and gratitude that He forgives those who repent.

I feel so blessed to continue participating in as many seasonal choirs as I can, helping bring worship to the Lord. It’s also a true blessing to serve by helping bring others to Christ through musical worship. I encourage anyone who is willing to serve the Lord through song to join us. It’s a blessing both to those who serve and to those we serve.
