Growing Through Service

My family and I attend LC3 and Agape, the LC3 homeschool co-op. LC3's
Community Garden has become a really special part of our church community. It’s not only a place where people can come together to garden and serve one another, but it’s also been a great place for kids to learn. Agape's preschool class spent time in the garden throughout the year - they grew many of the sunflowers everyone enjoyed this year!

The Community Garden at Lake City Community Church gives people
from the church and the surrounding community a chance to come together, grow things, and serve one another. When I found out the garden needed a bulletin board to help share information with the gardeners, I saw an opportunity to use my Eagle Scout project to help.

Scouting has taught me that serving others doesn’t always have to be something big. Sometimes it’s just noticing that something needs to be done and being willing to use the abilities God has given you to meet it. Through this project, I was able to serve my church while contributing to a ministry that is already serving others.

Building the bulletin board gave me the opportunity to develop leadership and perseverance while helping members of the garden share information and connect more effectively. I am grateful that my Eagle Scout project allowed me to give back to LC3 and support a ministry that is blessing our church and community. This experience will stay with me as a reminder of what God has taught me through serving and that He can use the skills and opportunities He has given us to serve the people around us.
