My Mother & My Brothers

Nov 22, 2025    Pastor Tung Le, Pastor David Pritchard

In Matthew 12:46–50, Jesus’ biological family arrives while He is teaching, but instead of stopping to greet them, He uses the moment to redefine what family truly is. Pointing to His disciples, Jesus declares that whoever does the will of His Father is His mother, brother, and sister. Through this moment, Jesus reveals that God’s family is not limited by bloodline, history, or background. Spiritual relationship—rooted in obedience to God—creates a deeper bond than biology. For those with painful or complicated family stories, this is good news: in Christ, we are welcomed into a new family marked by belonging, unity, and shared purpose.
