In Matthew 17:14-20, a desperate father brings his suffering son to Jesus's disciples for healing — and they can't do it. After Jesus heals the boy, the disciples pull Him aside and ask the obvious question: why couldn't we? Jesus's answer cuts to the heart of it. The problem wasn't the size of their faith. It was the object of it. Somewhere along the way, they had started trusting in their own power instead of His. Jesus reminds them, and us, even mustard-seed faith, when it's anchored in an all-powerful God, can move mountains. This passage invites us to stop measuring our faith and start examining where we've placed it.
