What Do I Still Lack

Jesus's contrast between the self-reliant rich young ruler and small children who depend entirely on others (Matthew 19:13–26) reveals that salvation is impossible through human effort alone. The ruler had kept the commandments, yet when Jesus exposed the idol in his heart — his wealth and self-sufficiency — he walked away grieving. True faith is not about what we do, but who we follow; salvation is a gift from God that calls us to radical dependence on Him in every area of life.
